WHY JOIN THE ROTARY CLUB OF WIARTON?

The Rotary Club of Wiarton has a dynamic slate of projects and events planned for this year. We are looking for select individuals to help us take our club to the next level.

If you have been considering joining or are currently a member and know of someone else who might be interested, please consider the following:
  • Rotary International is the world’s first service club organization.
  • There are more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide.
  • The motto of Rotary is “Service Above Self”.
Rotary International's Vision Statement:  "Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our community and in ourselves."
  • Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, eradicate polio and care for our environment.
So if you believe that community participation is an essential element in the life of a well-rounded person, please consider becoming a candidate for membership in the Wiarton Rotary Club and connect with like-minded leaders.

WHY CONSIDER MEMBERSHIP IN THE WIARTON ROTARY CLUB?

Because we make a difference in our community, our country & internationally.
Some examples include:
  • the construction of the boardwalk along the Wiarton waterfront
  • playground equipment at local parks
  • part of a community initiative to install a walk-in fridge/freezer for the local Food Bank
  • contribution to youth & seniors programs & activities
  • support of the worldwide Polio eradication effort
  • international support of programs in Cameroon to assist local Cameroon Clubs in delivering clean water and better sanitation to rural communities and agricultural programs to improve production of crops and livestock
  • tree planting program

HOW DO WE DO SO MUCH?

Because our members, who are dedicated community people like you, come together to raise funds through events such as:

  • Maple Magic over 2 consecutive weekends in March/April - which serves maple syrup, pancakes & lots of fun activities for young & old alike
  • Rotary Village Fair on the Civic Holiday summer weekend - a family standard for over 50 years in Wiarton
  • Shore to Shore Road Race on the Monday morning of the Civic Holiday weekend - a traditional 13km road race from Oliphant to Wiarton
Regular meetings provide members with insights into how our community works, local businesses, arts and culture, new concepts in technical and medical fields and little-known community treasures.  Members are also kept current on the Club’s projects through announcements at meetings and a weekly newsletter.  Member’s primary reasons for joining and renewing their membership include the following:
  • Participation in community projects international and local
  • Entertaining, informative and educational meetings
  • Networking and social engagement with Wiarton's business and community leaders
