The Basics of Rotary

Rotary is a global network of community volunteers. It provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.

Service above self is their motto.

Over 32,000 rotary clubs in more than 200 countries initiate service projects to address today’s challenges including illiteracy, disease, hunger, poverty, lack of clean water and environmental concerns.

Rotary’s humanitarian grants support club projects that provide health care and medical supplies, clean water, food, housing, schools, job training, youth development and education to millions of people in need, particularly in the developing world.

In 1985, Rotary launched Polio Plus, an ambitious program to immunize the world’s children against polio. Since 1998 polio cases have dropped 99 % and the world stands on the threshold of eradicating the disease.
